Harry Potter, Pre-Sicily Trip, and Late Sicily Trip

I received my Paris and 2008 scrapbooks in the mail from Shutterfly today, and I couldn't be more pleased with them. The only thing more pleasing than that is that my Harry Potter books arrived today - that is, the Film Wizardry book, the Unofficial Cookbook, and two John Granger books (Key to Unlocking Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Lectures). Yay! My costume idea for the last movie kind of fell apart, although, realistically, sewing a passably accurate Helga Hufflepuff costume to be part of the full set of Founders was never really that plausible. Instead, I intend to go as an Irish World Cup supporter since I picked up the pin when we were in Florida.  In order to do this, I have to take care of a few DIY things:

  • Green Rosette (found instructions online - going to make it from felt)
  • Irish supporter shirt (need iron-on transfer paper)
  • Orange ribbon belt (need to dig up some instructions)
  • World Cup Program and Ticket (this will require some scanning and fiddling in Photoshop, but feasible)
I'm also considering picking up a pair of cheap "Omnioculars" to finish the costume. The overall look will be green shirt, white skirt, and orange accents (Irish flag!).  I want to get some fake candy wrappers made up as well to go with my Pumpkin Juice bottle - I'm going totally all out on the Quidditch spectator look. Green face paint for the cheekbone stripes is also a necessity. I'll also probably end up wearing my time turner a) because  it makes up for the timeline discrepancy and b) it's so cool.

On to what I've been actually working on!

Italy Again - Finally

A random bout of organization in my room has led me to the realization that I need to get my Italy scrapbook done, stat. All because of a new tertiary bookshelf, which allowed me to finally put all my scrapbooks in a nice row. Italy needs it's own place now, and this is one of the few times when I'll have the time to sit down and scrap everything in rapid succession.

Now I have 41 consecutive pages for my book! In addition to the 8 or so random other pages I have finished. Considering that the first 41 pages only cover up through mid-February, this is going to be a very long book. Hopefully I won't have to split it into two volumes, as I'd really love just one giant thick book. We'll see how that goes.

An Epic Success!

I finished my Paris book, on time! Sent it in for printing just Wednesday. Hopefully it will arrive just before Fourth of July weekend.

A few last layouts to wrap up the book:

The rest of the pages I got done using quickpages or something similar, so they aren't worth posting. Sometime I'll have to come back and post the covers for all my photo books - I've had four printed, and so far have used variations on my favorite page. Basically, each book is a different color, the pictures are different group shots, and the subtitle on each is as follows:

2006 (WDW) - allow yourself to imagine
2008 (WDW, graduation trip) - allow yourself to celebrate
2009 (WDW) - allow yourself to daydream
2011 (DLRP) - allow yourself to explore

The Race Is On...

The other day, I received a shutterfly coupon in my inbox. 40% off photobooks. Hmmm...I had a third of my Paris book done, so that e-mail was like a giant flashing "GO!" sign to get this done. I have ten pages to go before Wednesday, and I think I'll actually make it. Admittedly, I'm cheating a little bit more than usual by using some quickpages and previously used pages, but my cheapness and desire to get this done is outweighing my perfectionism.  It's probably a good thing, since I'm doing more basic scrapping/memory keeping rather than focusing on playing with kits and photoshop and dawdling on the internet.  Since last Thursday, I've been going at lightspeed to get these done:

There are several more pages I have done, but for various reasons don't feel like uploading: Main Street Entrance, First View of the Castle, Adventureland, Radiator Springs, Cinderella's Carriage, and the Princess Float. Now to get back to work and get this finished! Either way, I'll be getting my 2008 book printed come Wednesday, since this coupon is better than printing individual pages and putting them in an album like I'd originally planned.

Falling Out of the Scrapping Groove

I finished my 2009 scrapbook last week and sent it to print,* finally, so now I'm in a place where the list of what to scrap is more undone than done. Rather overwhelming, especially since I really need to get working on my Italy book.  Yikes. I have gotten a few pages done for my June 2011 book. For this one, I picked up an 8x8 scrapbook in the gift shop, and plan on adding some additional page protectors.  I'll probably print a few test pages when I finally send those ones off to Persnickety Prints, which I keep hearing lovely things about.

We also got our photopass cd in the mail, so now I have all my pictures and can get working on some of the character/icon pages, which really make up most of this book.

Not thrilled about how this one turned out, but I really like the idea of it and how little time it took me to do it, so it stays:

* Really excited about this one - the timing of Shutterfly's sales combined to 20% off, free 8x8 for Father's Day, and the last day of free shipping. So I paid $43 and saved $48 - awesome.

More Scrapping and Back after a Disney Trip

A week after returning from a fun vacation with the two little Lauras (one actually a Laura and one my sister), things have finally settled down into summer routine.  In between, however, was the end of the Mousescrappers 2nd Birthday celebration and the little Lauras' graduation.  Which means, of course, more pages done.

Continuing with the Mouscrappers challenges, here are some more pages, with a few from Disneyland Paris:

So now I am officially finished with both my 2008 book and my 2009 book. Leaving plenty of time to work on the 100+ pages left for Italy and the 100+ pages of Disneyland Paris and WDW.  Yay!
