One That Makes Me Happy

When I heard this in my happy, fuzzy state on Monday night, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with these words (besides photographing them on my television and testing its television capture skills). I think I might print it out and add it to my door.

Legal Now

So this is my first post as a fully legal adult! And I mean legal in the now I can go to bars and figure out loop holes of blue laws and such (answer: nearest Walmart in a different state is 15 minutes away). I've also been scrapping - so much scrapping! Fall tv started back up, and this is what I do during commercials. Realistically, I should be translating hieroglyphs, but that's neither here nor there.

Weekly Layouts

It's a delightful Friday night here in the Bend - it's an cold 55 degrees (I've had to bust out the leather jacket) and I'm stuck inside with a cold. But there is football tomorrow, and we're due for a win. Right? Sigh. In addition to a paper analyzing a letter of Pliny's, here is what I have been up to this week. Mousescrappers Speed Scrap:

Part Two of the Ara Pacis page, which we talk about practically every day in one of my classes:

One of the coolest pages I have made, color-wise:

Fall - The Bundle

Crossbone Cuts has a new seasonally appropriate collection out today, and I had the opportunity to play with it a bit. There are two coordinating parts - I Heart Fall and Fall Fail. It's perfect - one is appropriate for autumns up north, where our campus becomes the most gorgeous place in the Midwest while the leaves change, and the smaller Fall Fail add-on is perfect for fall breaks back home, where it's still hot and sunny. Fun fact: in Houston, we lose our leaves in the spring. When the new green leaves push out the old green leaves. Yay seasons? Both kits are also bundled up together for a discount.

And here are a few layouts I made using these kits. The first is from Diana's and my trip to the museum over fall break.

And this one I made tonight for the 9/16 Roadmap to Scrap. Not quite during the fall, but still perfect for a nature page.

I'll probably end up using this kit again after my fall break trip to WDW - Diana and I are going to be hitting up the Halloween party!

An Off Week for Me

Off as in I don't have a lot of assignments or stress. I've been still scrapping diligently, as the September double points at ScrapMatters is irresistible. So many things being accomplished! I also picked out my 125 favorite photos from last semester and had them printed, so in a week or so I'll have a lovely collage for my wall. There are still several decorating type things I need to get done this weekend, though.

I always kind of figured that my love for the Ara Pacis would spill out onto two pages, and now I know I wasn't mistaken. At some point, I'll type up all of my notes and add them to the pictures of me with the monument (and just the straight up monument).

September Mix-A-Kit and My Basics: Black Alpha

So this week there was not one, not two, but technically six new products from Crossbone Cuts! The September Mix-a-Kit has five parts:

Sketch Me - Sketchy Stuff
Sketch Me - The Elements
Sketch Me - The Patterns

Here's a layout I made with all the components. The colors just screamed Buzz Lightyear.

As part of Friday's New Releases, Tanya also released My Basics: Black Alpha, a previous speed scrap prize.

I've used it several times since I got hold of it, and will probably use it a lot more, too. It goes very nicely with Hollywood Studios pages and with Britt-ish Designs's anniversary grab bag from a few weeks ago.

Today I Feel Like...

A Grown Up. For real. I took the GRE this morning, and conquered it. I conquered it like I was a Roman and it was Carthage. Or Greece. Or something that is conquered beneath my mighty empire of awesome. And I did it on four hours of sleep and a caffeine hangover (which is a new discovery for me - turns out my body has decided it no longer wants caffeine after dinner). Also, this week, I was honored with not one, not two, but THREE GSO's on ScrapMatters! I love that site. Love it to pieces. Bragging rights are mine. Especially while I was scrapping every single one of those pages, I should have been learning geometry for the last standardized test of my life.

I also had my first proper shift at work today, as Monday didn't really count - nothing like running across campus, arriving five minutes late and sweaty, and doing homework for an hour and a half hoping no one needs Greek tutoring without warning, because that language is so one year ago. That didn't count. Today was a proper shift, one where I earned my keep by tutoring a very nice girl (who may or may not be a grad student). I have a feeling that I'll be getting a lot of kids from her section - one has already transferred out into my Latin class.

So here are my "I should be learning math but screw it, football starts this Saturday and there are still double stuf oreos left" pages. I have also embraced my whimsical side, and as such have adapted my journaling style to match. Having said that, here is page with no journaling. Ah, speed scraps. They are my curse and blessing.

My layout for Britt's September kit challenge at Mousescrappers. Honestly, my favorite thing about this page (out of many enjoyable pieces) is the Pirates of the Caribbean reference. As a reference, it certainly worked better than my "I'm on a Boat" page.

A page from the necropolis - this was the day where Scott Smith told us "When I die, I just want to be shot into the sun. Is that too much to ask?" I think this page needs a new title.

Double pager for Andrea's 100th Weekly Challenge at Mousescrappers. It's a choose your own! With the most awesome Britt prize. The double pager was not necessary, but, as the saying goes, "Go big or go home."

Here's the journaling:

Journaling: Rapunzel is my favorite princess, so meeting her was my one absolute must do. The skirts were even timed for meeting her! We tried to wait in the morning, but our entry was going to interfere with our Crystal Palace reservations. We came back for the secret 6pm show. The stage was gorgeous, and in the background they played music from the soundtrack. Diana and Laura decided they wanted to color with the little kids. The photopass lady askd us which little ones were our and their names, so we got to tell her we had the big girls! It was so cute - she took candids, then called their names so they could smile and pose.

Rapunzel and Flynn were so nice! After signing my book, Rapunzel complimented our skirts. I told her that she needed to get on the gift shops so we could match her, and she joked that she didn’t think that that’s a good idea because she might have to make them all herself. Then she set up our photo using her artist’s eye - complete with finger framing. After the photo, Karen, having seen him show off the crown to the girls in front of us, asked him if he had something special in his satchel. He showed us the crown, but said he had to be careful with it, as the last time the two of them had been riding, it had flown off Rapunzel’s head! We were sworn to secrecy about this, our course - it wouldn’t do for her parents to find out.

There are a few more layouts, but those are all new releases and shall be posted after dinner.
